The First Appointment
At your first visit, Dr. Eckhart will perform a visual exam and create a treatment plan for you. Most, if not all, of your questions should be answered at this appointment.
If treatment is necessary, it is likely that Dr. Eckhart will recommend starting, and you should be sure all necessary decision-makers are present or available by phone, because we will want to get you started. Our treatment coordinator will also address insurance and financial arrangements at this time.
This first visit requires 1 - 1 ½ hours to complete.
The orthodontic exam is free of charge.
For snoring exams, there is a $75.00 charge payable at the appointment.

Getting Started with Orthodontic Treatment
Once the financial arrangements are agreed upon and the paperwork is complete, including an initial payment, we will need orthodontic X-rays and photos to be taken to complete our beginning records.
When these records are complete, we can begin placing the orthodontic appliances. This is usually done at the next appointment after the consultation.

Getting Started with Snoring Treatment
If Dr. Eckhart feels it is likely that apneas are present in your sleep, he will request a sleep study in order to know how severe the apnea is. After the study, the sleep physician in charge of the study may recommend one of several alternative treatments. If you have already had a sleep study, please get us a copy of it.
If a dental device is likely to help reduce snoring and apneas, Dr. Eckhart will quote the fee. Our treatment coordinator will make financial arrangements and discuss insurance options with you. We will make an impression of your teeth for the device and send models to the lab for construction. The device should be ready in 2 - 3 weeks.
